Everyday Smartboard:

Using the Smartboard for Classroom Management

Overview

The purpose of this workshop today is to give you some examples of ways to use your Smartboard for everyday activities. Most of us have seen, used, or been shown how to use our Smartboard for engaging students in meaningful lessons. This workshop is geared towards ways to use your Smartboard to help you manage your classroom. I will share three examples of ways I use my Smartboard to help me run my classroom more efficiently.
  1. Morning Work/Morning Message
  2. Seating Charts
  3. Guided Reading Group Assignments

Morning Work/Morning Message

  • Every morning my students enter my classroom and are greeted by a message on the Smartboard.
  • My message includes a greeting and their morning work.
  • I change the background monthly.
  • I also included a clock so students could see how much time they have to get their work finished.
  • Many variations of Morning Work/Morning Message would work for the Smartboard.

Seating Charts

  • I create my seating charts on the Smartboard.
  • It requires a bit of time up front, but once done is easily manipulated.
  • It is also easy to print and have for substitutes

Guided Reading Group Assignment

  • My guided reading groups are also done on the Smartboard.
  • I assign the groups and the list of activities that I will work on.
  • It is easily manipulated once in place.

This is just an outline of the workshop itself. I will demonstrate how I create each of these examples during our time.
