Room: 106A Presenter:Andrew Wulfkuhle, Donegal School District Audience: K-6, Leadership Description: Imagine a place where students have the freedom and the materials to explore and create using science, technology, engineering, art, and math. This space would be kid-friendly, accessible and meet the needs of a project-based curriculum. This new “Makerspace” would be the latest way a school could meet the educational needs of the 21st century, otherwise known as S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). This “Makerspace” would provide students with the materials needed to create specifically for classroom/school projects or their interests. Students would manage, manipulate, and utilize the materials provided to enhance their learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. A “Makerspace” is truly a laboratory of the mind.
Goals and Objectives of Conference Session:
1. How to obtain “Makerspace” equipment.
2. How to equip the designated room with “Makerspace” materials.
3. How to instruct students in “Makerspace” usage and activities.
4. Attendees will be able to use “Makerspace” materials to explore and create.
