Session Title: Getting Started with Blogging

Description:
Blogging is a fantastic way to encourage your students to publish their writing digitally to share with an authentic audience. Through blogging, students will not only enhance their writing and reading skills, but will practice essential elements of digital literacy and citizenship. Learn how to get started using the very friendly and safe platform Kidblog with your elementary students, as well as explore other blog platforms (Edublogs, Wordpress, Blogger). We will also look at the benefits of blogging for teachers and administrators and ways to engage parents and the school community!

Session Title: GoogleApps in the Elementary Classroom

Description:
Attendees will see several examples of how teachers incorporate googleapps in their classrooms. Students have individual accounts that promote collaboration. (word processing, spreadsheet and presentation examples will be shared.)

Session Title: Innovative Uses of Technology for Primary Students

Description:
This session has been designed to share practical examples of technology use in the Primary Classroom. Content focus will feature, but not be limited to:
• Scanning of QR codes and how it relates to a science based compost lesson
• Innovative Picture Collages – how this can be connected to science and literacy
• Simple student created i-movies with examples
• Nearpod application in the classroom
• Advancing Home School Communication through Teacher Blogs
While the presenters will bring ipads for use, please bring your own devices for note taking and to follow along.



Session Title: Getting to Know Edmodo

Description:
Attendees will sign up for Edmodo and get an opportunity to experience it for themselves. Learn how to collaborate with other teachers, and the many ways to use it with your students. This is a safe social learning network and offers the ability to harness the power of social media and use it in your classroom. Your students will be totally engaged and eager to be an active part of your classroom Edmodo environment.

Session Title: Using Khan Academy for Enrichment and Remediation

Description:
Khan Academy is a free, web-based resource that can be used in the classroom in a variety of ways. See how the new "Learning Dashboard" makes it even easier to use Kahn Academy for enrichment and how the traditional "Knowledge Map" allows you to use it for remediation. Students receive points and badges as motivation for their work. Coaches can see data of students' time spent, topics mastered, topics practiced and difficulties.
