Come learn how the many uses of Twitter can be a power tool for educators and students. Twitter is about relationships. It's about building your Personal Learning Network (PLN), participating in meaningful professional development, and inviting experts into your “virtual classroom”. Twitter can be a class tool for students to seek out additional resources to reinforce activities in the classroom. In this presentation, participants will create twitter accounts, become familiar with educational Twitter chats, and build a PLN. You'll accomplish all this with 140 characters or less! Intermediate Twitter users will explore team-based tweeting, organizing future tweets with Tweet Deck, and view examples of how teachers can use twitter with students in their classrooms.

Sway makes sure presentations look great on any screen/device and you can easily add content from integrated apps such as PowerPoint, OneDrive, social networks, YouTube, your devices and the web. Sway's built-in design engine takes the hassle out of formatting pieces of your content by integrating them into a cohesive layout. Once I review the design interface, participants can sign into Sway from Office 365, use a personal account at Sway.com, or download the app to their device. Get ready to have fun with this new mobile educational tool!

Parr Audience: K-6, Leadership Description: “All learning is brain-based but all teaching is not," explains Dr. Mariale Hardiman, author of The Brain-targeted Teaching (BTT) Model, 2012. Meaning, though research provides a foundation for how learning occurs, current instructional practices do not often follow suit. This presentation will share research-based information and discuss implications for teaching and learning- and how technology can assist in supporting BTT. Using Dr. Hardiman's model as a guide, attendees will be provided with ideas that utilize technology to tap into a variety of modalities. Many of these resources can be implemented immediately.

Instead of pictures and links of my (teacher) favorite apps, this presentation will show STUDENTS using apps to best improve their learning.

Our EdCamp sessions will follow the 'unconference' format where the agenda is created by the attendees at the beginning of each session. There will be some themes to start the conversations, but anyone is welcome to initiate a discussion on a specific topic for any of our four sessions. Participants who attend can initiate topic discussions or participate in discussions that have been initiated by others. The format and schedule will be extremely flexible to meet the needs of the participants.
