Twitter for Education

Room: 103
Presenters: Spiri Howard, Sam Johnson
Audience: K-6, Leadership
Description:
Education is the single most important job of the human race. Come learn how the many uses of Twitter can be a power tool for educators and students. Twitter is about relationships. It's about building your Personal Learning Network (PLN), participating in meaningful professional development, and inviting experts into your “virtual classroom”. Twitter can be a class tool for students to seek out additional resources to reinforce activities in the classroom. In this presentation, participants will create twitter accounts, become familiar with educational Twitter chats, and build a PLN. You'll accomplish all this with 140 characters or less! Intermediate Twitter users will explore team-based tweeting, organizing future tweets with Tweet Deck, and view examples of how teachers can use twitter with students in their classrooms.
