Description: This session will demonstrate and describe how apple mobile devices and apps are and can be used in elementary classrooms, specifically for the communication skills of reading, writing, and spelling. There will be a hands on demonstration of the applications and participants will be able to use iPads and iTouches. This session is for participants who have iPods or iPads in their classroom, know they are getting them shortly, or are planning on writing a grant or technology plan to receive them. It is also encouraged that if participants have their own iPod, iPad, or iPhone that they bring it to the session.

Activities:

  • Introduction: How we got started using them and why?
  • How students are using them now.
    • Reading in IBooks, Kindle App
    • Writing on blog and commenting.
  • Exploring sample ipods and ipads
  • Audience discussion.
